Mole Removal

Laser mole removal is suitable for small, flat, benign pigmented moles that have been assessed as clinically non-suspicious. Raised, irregular, or recently changed moles, those that itch or bleed, or those in high-friction areas are better managed by surgical excision. Dr George performs dermoscopic and clinical assessment to determine the appropriate treatment for each lesion. Any ambiguous mole will be excised and sent for histopathology

PicoSure Laser (Renee): The PicoSure delivers ultra-short picosecond pulses that shatter melanin within the mole via photoacoustic energy. This mechanism causes minimal thermal damage to surrounding tissue, resulting in superior clearance with lower scarring risk than older nanosecond lasers. 1–3 sessions may be required for complete clearance depending on mole depth and density. Surgical Excision (Dr George): Performed under local anaesthesia with meticulous technique to minimise scarring. All excised tissue is sent for histopathological analysis

Pre (Laser): Avoid sun exposure and fake tan for 4 weeks prior. No retinoids or active acids 5 days before. Arrive with clean skin. Post (Laser): Keep the area clean and dry. A scab will form — do not pick it. Apply prescribed ointment. Avoid sun exposure for 8 weeks minimum. SPF 50+ ongoing. Redness and crusting resolve in 7–14 days. Post (Surgical): Wound care instructions provided at discharge. Attend suture removal. Scar management begins once fully healed
